Kyle Chapin
Kyle Chapin has had a love for Eastern Cultures throughout his life. Since childhood he has practiced martial arts. For the past twenty years he has been a devoted practitioner of Tai Chi (an ancient Chinese moving meditation that clears the mind, keeps the Qi flowing, and maintains the vitality and flexibility of the body).
A graduate from American University with a B.A. in Philosophy, he focused on eastern traditions (Taoism and Buddhism). From these ancient teachings a deeper meaning of the spirit, mind, body connection was revealed to him. This is where he began a love affair with the healing arts. To fuel his new found love affair he began to study massage after college. For the past eighteen years he has been practicing massage throughout the country. His awareness has deepened with regard to how the spirit, mind, and body are connected by learning about how their qualities are a reflection of a person’s health.
Kyle has achieved a Masters degree in Acupuncture from the TAI SOPHIA Institute. He is also a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist. He moved to Asheville in 2006 to start teaching Massage, Shiatsu, Acupressure, and meditation at the North Carolina School of Natural Healing and opened a private practice.
“Acupuncture changed my life by awakening a deeper sense of values. When I would leave my practitioner’s office the world became new again, full of possibilities that I had never realized. I received so many amazing gifts I wanted to share them with the world.”
Melissa Burdeos, LMBT
Melissa Burdeos is a therapeutic massage therapist with more than 13 years’ experience. While living in Texas, she graduated from the Austin School of Massage in 1998, and began her career as a spa massage therapist. Because she wanted to broaden her knowledge of massage and bodywork, Melissa moved to the mountains of Utah in 2002, and attended the Clinical Career Track at the Utah College of Massage Therapy. There, she studied the concepts of structural integration, and became certified in Structural Bodywork and Cranial Sacral Therapy. Melissa then continued her studies as a teaching assistant to strengthen her understanding of anatomy, pathology, acupressure, and hydrotherapy.
After concluding her studies in the Western mountains, Melissa was called to the Eastern seacoast. In 2005, she moved to coastal Georgia, where she worked at the exclusive Sea Island Resort and had a private practice on St. Simon’s Island, Georgia. In her five years on the island, Melissa adapted her new awareness to sports massage, working with professional and recreational golfers, established during her employment at Sea Island. After a rewarding practice of massage on the islands, she felt the pull of the mountains again, and a desire to focus on clinical massage. Melissa moved to Asheville in the fall of 2010, and began offering massage during the spring of 2011.
Melissa’s philosophy is that the key to better health in the body is balance. She holds that intention for every client, in every session, using her knowledge and skills to encourage balance and integrity in the client’s body. Her advanced training and life experience enable her to professionally and compassionately support each of her clients in his or her own personal journey toward wellness.
